Ascender Design.
What is your role?
Junior Graphic Designer.

Everything! Getting paid to do my dream job.

November 2009 after the 3 month course.
What area were you working in before the course?
Marketing.
Did you have any design experience before the course?
Yes. I had completed a degree print design at Chelsea College, University of the Arts London.
Why did you decide to study at Shillington?
I didn't want to go back to university for 3 to 4 years to gain the correct skills to get a job within the industry. Shillington is really the best course in that it simulated a studio environment, tight deadlines and real-like briefs, along with learning the most up to-date software.
What was the most valuable thing you took away from the course?
Most definitely my portfolio, it was professional and it showcased all of the skills I had learnt during the course.
How did you find the environment, facilities and teaching?
All excellent! It was fun, hard working environment. The teaching was fantastic, and the facilities were completely up to-date.
How confident did you feel about entering the design industry after you graduated?
I was obviously nervous about searching for work however I was confident to show industry professionals my portfolio, as I knew that the Shillington standard was high.
How long did it take you to secure a job?
Two months.
What has been the highlight of your career so far?
Getting a job at Ascender and being able to work on some fantastic campaigns!
Where do you see yourself 12 months from now?
Doing the same thing but with more knowledge and experience.
Any advice for aspiring designers out there?
If your hesitant whether or not to do the Shillington course, just do it. If you work hard will not regret it!
