When did you graduate from Shillington?
I graduated in May 2010 in Sydney.

What area were you working in before the course?
I was working as a photographer, but found myself wanting to spend more time working with the images instead of the actual photography. That pushed me towards graphic design.

Why did you decide to study at Shillington?
I was looking into different courses online but Shillington stood out. I liked the intensity of the course and that it seemed realistic.

In 2011 one of your Shillington projects won you a coveted spot in the Anno Student Design Annual. Congratulations! Can you describe the winning project for us?
I was very honoured to be a part of the Anno Annual.The brief was to design a Film Festival brochure with a contemporary feel that would mirror the genre and inspire people to attend the festival. I chose the Science Fiction genre.  

For me, Science Fiction movies are often set in outer space and that made me think of the way I drew constellations and stars as a child: a triangle on top of a triangle. This gave me the idea for my typeface. The idea didn't take long, but perfecting it did.

How confident did you feel about entering the design industry after you graduated?
I felt confident, but realistic. I had to go back to Denmark and knew that getting a job there might be difficult. But I felt confident that what I had learned, and my portfolio, would get me a long way. After graduating I did some freelance work for a few different companies. One was a new business, dealing with packaging. They liked my work and offered me a partnership in a graphic design studio. I handle in-house print and online design as well as packaging design for their clients.

What do you love about being a designer?
I love that no two days are the same. Every time you get a new brief, you have to clear your head and start from scratch. I love seeing the client's surprise and excitement when you pitch an idea they didn't even know they wanted.
