What were you doing before the course?
I'm studying advertising, visual arts & graphic design at University and I also work in retail. I'm doing the Shillington course part-time.
What motivated you to do the course now?
Through Uni I found a love for design but was unsatisfied with the content taught. I saw an advert for Shillington in Frankie magazine and thought I'd come along to an open night. I totally fell in love. The part-time classes fit in perfectly with my Uni timetable so I'm still able to complete my degree.
Have you had any previous graphic design experience?
I was introduced to the Adobe Creative Suite through Uni but wasn't taught how to use it. They just threw us in the deep end and expected us to swim. I tried to teach myself, which resulted in learning bad habits. In the short time I've been at Shillington I feel like I've learnt more than the entire time I've studied graphic design at uni. I really wish I'd known about Shillington College before I started my course at Uni - I could have saved 2 years!
What do you like about the course?
I really like the content taught and the whole learning environment. The atmosphere is really positive, the teachers are very helpful and I especially like the way no students ever get left behind.
