What were you doing before the course?
I did an undergrad in Business Management and French and then did a Masters in Arts Management. I then worked as an administrative assistant for a small record label which was fun but not hands-on creative enough for me. I designed a few small flyers and adverts in that role and realised that was the part of the job I love the most and thought it would be great to design all day, every day! I felt Shillington would help me achieve that dream!

What motivated you to do this course now?
I had been thinking about doing the course at Shillington for a good two years. Once I'd saved up for it, I committed myself to the course and was very excited about starting. I thought that Shillington would give me some very practical skills which I could apply in the work place.

Have you had any previous graphic design experience?
I didn't have any formal graphic design experience. I had taught myself the basics of InDesign and Photoshop to do some small projects for friends but that was very basic knowledge! I've learnt so much already at Shillington – technical and artistic skills alike.

What do you like about the course?
I love the positive and inspiring working environment here. The lecturers are so approachable, helpful and encouraging , the other students are all passionate and fun to be around. It's nice that we get to see each others work and discuss it. We are also eased into each new subject area so although we are learning huge amount, it never feels too daunting or overwhelming. I love looking through all the design-related books at the back of the classroom too!
