“I chose to do the course to gain confidence and refresh what I had learnt in the Shillington Cert IV course. After two and a half years in my first job I felt I had lost confidence and motivation and needed something to give me more purpose as far as the direction my career was heading.
During the course I really started to blow-off the cobwebs as far as having my own ideas and making creative decisions was concerned. My design skills have definitely improved in terms of the process and I feel I have loosened up a lot. I am more open minded to ideas that I would have otherwise ignored or abandoned.
I would strongly recommend it to people in a similar position to me, a few years out of study and in need of a refresher or confidence boost. It is also great to meet other people in the same boat and learn about what they all do in their different jobs and gauge whereabouts you are in the scheme of things.
I can now happily move forward in my design career without any doubt.”

“Having worked mainly as a photo retoucher and finished artist, I did this course in order to improve my design skills and to open up my mind to think more laterally. My skills have definitely improved through all areas of design. The key area I feel this course has really addressed is my confidence. I now feel a lot more reassured that I am capable of designing.
I would recommend this course to anyone from junior to mid-weight They will gain a great deal from the teachers, who have a wealth of knowledge and experience.”

“I chose to do the Masterclass because I was at a point of self-doubt. In my workplace I was being bypassed creative work which effected my motivation and confidence. I even started to wonder if I was good enough to be working in the design industry! I hoped that the Masterclass would help brush up on rusty skills, improve my folio and, most importantly, improve my confidence and motivation. These and other goals were surpassed during the course. I now feel I can put myself out there and be confident in my ability and work.
A notable improvement to my design skills is the use of idea generation techniques, using a variety of ways to come up with a number of ideas in a short amount of time. I found this gave my work a greater foundation and, as a result, I felt proud to put my name to it.
Since my folio had been neglected for so long, the course practically rebuilt it. It’s great to have work I’ve done in the real world, combined with some freelance, and now, course work. The folio shows diverse skills and creative thinking. Having a decent portfolio is a huge morale booster!
I would most definitely recommend this course to other designers. You get the chance to explore your ideas and have a free reign on being creative. You get to be taught by experts that work in the industry and the workshop hosts are very inspirational. There’s also the opportunity to meet and study with fellow graphic designers. But most of all, you’ll find the challenge that you may be lacking in your everyday job.”

“I chose to do this course in order to improve and update my skills, seek inspiration and creative nurturing. I feel that I have improved significantly from doing the course, particularly in idea generation and development.
The most valuable section of the course is refining your portfolio. I feel my work has now been taken to a new level of professionalism.
Overall, a wonderful course! I especially enjoyed the feedback, organisation and professionalism of the teachers. Well done guys!”

“On a personal level I signed up for the course to meet some people and boost my confidence. I had been working in the design/signage industry for a number of years but had not done any formal graphic design training (that was any good anyway). At the end of the first day I had already learnt a heap and was convinced that I had made the right move in doing the course.
Basically I thought the course was fantastic!
It was great to meet other students who are all at different stages of their career but all have the common interest of wanting to learn more about design.
Meeting the teachers, seeing their folios and hearing about their industry experience was invaluable and the industry workshops were excellent also. A pretty unique opportunity to meet these industry specialists and, better still, to get their input.
I learnt a great deal from each of the briefs/workshops and I feel the course really helped me push my design boundaries.”

“Before enrolling in the Masterclass I was working as a multimedia designer making e-learning resources for students studying in the hospitality and food and beverage industry. After two years of working in this position I felt I had plateaued and really wanted to build upon my basic graphic design skills in order to complement my experience as a multimedia designer. When I got the Masterclass email I thought it sounded like just what I was looking for.
Over the course my work has become more refined. I think things through more thoroughly and I am constantly questioning my thought process behind my design. The critiques given by the tutors were invaluable and Simone, Tony and Anita are super-friendly and approachable and always happy to give advice.
As well as all this, I came out of the course with a professional looking portfolio to show to prospective clients/employers and great advice from the tutors for job searching as a designer. In the end I think the time and money invested in the course was well spent!”
