What is your current job?
Desktop Publisher.
What sort of work are you doing?
Art preparation, imposition, design formatting and operating a variety of digital printers.
What sort of deadlines do you work to?
Anything from 30 minutes to a couple of days.
What do you love about Graphic Design?
Formatting - at first when I was introduced to it at Shillington I feared it - now I drool to format a lengthy document or annual report! I love learning how to put an actual book together, the skill of imposing and all about the machines used to fold, score, cello glaze, laminate, perforate, number, glue, staple and stitch.
What do you find inspiring?
Well crafted books with modern and stylish typography combined with high res images. Also the ingenious ways to entice a viewer to not only look at but more importantly read the product. I really like print techniques such as transparent varnish print (nice and subtle).
How has Shillington helped you gain employment?
By helping me develop a great design folio and encouraging me to strive to learn as much as I can about everything in the industry.
