What is your role?
Graphic Designer.
What sort of work are you doing?
At the moment I am mainly working on packaging design which includes boxes, labels & swing tags, blister packs etc. This involves product and food styling and photography. I also work on the design and photography for more sales related tools.
What sort of deadlines do you work to?
The deadlines are quire tight. we don't get a lot of time!
What do you love about Graphic Design?
I love the opportunity to be creative each day. To be able to work with colour, type and photography to make things that others will see and, hopefully, enjoy.
What do you find inspiring?
I'm inspired by knowing that there's so much to learn and also by the way it feels when you have a finished package that's been approved. It's a very satisfying feeling.
How has Shillington helped you gain employment?
I couldn't have done it without Shillington. I wanted a career change. I needed to do it quickly and effectively and therefore needed to acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to get me a job in the industry as soon as possible. I got that from the graphic design course at Shillington and most of my interviews came from jobs that I found through the college. In fact, the job I have now was listed on the Shillington Blog. The course gave me what I needed and also provided an opportunity to get out there and show what I had learnt.
